Paper Snowflakes

Supplies

  • Paper/Printing paper works a little better
  • Scissors - make sure ot use safe scissors for children
  • Tape
  • String
  • Paper Clips

Instructions

  1. Fold paper in half for times. For variations start out with a half of a sheet of paper.
  2. Use scissors to cut small triangles and other designs into the sides of the paper. Make sure not to cut the entire side of the paper on the folded sides, this will cause the snowflake to come apart
  3. Open the paper and attach string and tap to the ceiling. You can also use paper clips and hang them from Christmas trees.

Paper Chain

This activity is very simple and fun. Cut strips of construction paper into strips (this is a good opportunity for children to practice cutting). After you have the strips cut, glue one strip so that it makes a loop. When you have the first loop made make another loop with the two loops connected like two links of a chain. Continue this process until all of the strips of paper are gone, or your chain is as long as you want it.

Fruit Loop Strands
Generic brands work great as well

All you need for this activity is a little time, fruit loops, and some string or yarn. Cut a section of string or yarn and start threading the fruit loops through. This activity is a good chance for children to work on hand eye coordination and you can also have them create their own patterns with the colors of the fruit loops.
